This moving company did a fantastic job!! My husband had nothing but positive things to say about the crew who packed up our household in Fairbanks; and I have nothing but positive things to say about the crew who delivered and unpacked our belongings in Anchorage. I am shocked at how they lifted and moved some extraordinarily heavy items so smoothly without damage or even a scrape on a wall. They were also very kind and patient with me as we navigated a LOT of stuff with some small spaces–which took some expertise and finesse on their part. They went above and beyond our expectations. I have never had such a stress-free move 😆❤️

Such a great crew! Packed my entire home FILLED with fragile items in 2 days AND I’ve been unpacking and haven’t found a single thing broken. 10/10 recommend to anyone who is nervous about packing or first time big movers.

The efficiency and quality of work they do in packing is unmatched. Dan was very knowledgeable and efficient during the estimate done in person. He was on the dot in the weight estimate too. Norman, Ben, and Sione did an awesome job delivering and unpacking. Fast and professional, I would use these guys every time if I could.

Outstanding work! I used Continental Van to move my mother from Wasilla to Anchorage. Ken set me up in a timely manner, and was quick on the callbacks and followthrough. The 3 man moving crew were professional, respectful and diligent with the pack up, taking care with fragile items. They also made the delivery and unpack an easy and positive experience for my anxious 70+ mother. The borrow/return totes saved my family a lot of money, it shows Continental Van thinks of their customers first. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will definately use again!

High fives to Kone and Nio for being exceptional movers! They worked non-stop to pack up my house over 2 days. I had large items, fragile goods, plus a motorcycle that they packed with care for its long journey to the lower 48. These are some of the hardest-working guys I’ve seen, and definitely the best crew of movers I’ve ever worked with. They were friendly, professional, courteous, showed up on time, and stayed late to make sure everything got done; all while being short one crew member and traveling to a remote location. I couldn’t be happier with the work they did – thank you!!!

⭐THANK YOU Royal Alaskan Movers ⭐ for moving my family and saving my husband’s back! After a fast paced move, the majority of my belonging were stuck in storage. After a call to Royal, we were able to get everything moved in a few hours! The crew was prompt and extremely courteous and careful with all our belongings! Scheduling was fast as well. I called and they came out the next morning! We were moved in less than 4 hours! I would give 10 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

How to Choose a Moving Company in Sitka

Vetting movers in Sitka matters because weather, ferries, and long distances can affect timelines and costs. Local and intrastate moves follow Alaska rules, while interstate moves require federal registration. Confirming credentials and scope upfront reduces surprises on moving day.

🛡️ Licensing and insurance

For interstate moves, verify USDOT and MC numbers. For local or intrastate, check Alaska registration and active cargo and liability coverage.

❄️ Experience with Alaska logistics

Weather, ferries, and remote access can shift schedules. Ask about similar routes, contingency plans, and winter operations.

💰 Transparent estimates

Request line-item quotes. Clarify stairs, long carries, shuttles, storage, and fuel surcharges, plus binding versus not-to-exceed terms.

⭐ Reviews and dispute handling

Scan recent feedback for patterns in care and communication. Ask how claims are filed, timelines, and who handles resolutions.

📦 Scope of services

Decide if you need packing, crating, storage, or specialty handling. Compare delivery windows, tracking, and valuation options.

📍 Availability and coverage

Confirm crew size for your date and whether the company serves both origin and destination without subcontracting.

Practical Moving Tips

Moving to Sitka, AK means planning around ferries, frequent rain, and tight building access. Set your dates around AMHS or barge schedules, pack for wet conditions, and get heat and utilities running before the container or truck arrives.

  • Book marine transport early. Ask for cutoff dates, likely sailings, and a backup; add buffer days for weather and port delays.
  • Pack for rain and stairs. Use plastic totes, shrink-wrap, and furniture covers; label by room; expect stair carries in many buildings.
  • Reserve access windows. Confirm elevator times, loading zones, and street permits; some sites need a smaller shuttle truck for the last stretch.
  • Control moisture at move-in. Bring boot trays, towels, a box fan or dehumidifier; wipe down metal tools to prevent rust and mildew.
  • Protect freeze-sensitive and valuable items. Keep meds, documents, and electronics with you; don’t ship liquids that can burst.
  • Set up essentials before arrival. Start electric, internet, and fuel delivery; test heat and hot water the day you get keys.
  • Plan vehicle/boat logistics. Compare AMHS roll-on vs. barge; remove loose accessories and document condition; consider a local storage spot if timing doesn’t align.
  • Safety and local habits. Learn tsunami/earthquake routes, keep a small outage kit (flashlights, power bank, CO detector), and use wildlife-safe trash practices.
