Very friendly people. We moved from Missouri to Palmer, AK. We weren’t sure the date that we would be occupying the house. Sourdough worked with us to make sure that our stuff was delivered after we had gotten into the house. Excellent cooperation to make sure everything worked seamlessly. The crew here in Palmer were outstanding definitely would use sourdough again.
The moving crew was very professional, efficient, and courteous. I recommend them to all of my clients , and they’re always happy with the end result.!

These guys (Dan & Fred) really went far & above in ensuring my household goods were carefully wrapped and packed & that the new house was protected to avoid any possible damage. The efficiency and quality of work they do in packing is unmatched. Dan was very knowledgeable and efficient during the estimate done in person. He was on the dot in the weight estimate too. A TRUE EXPERT! I have made friends with DAN & FRED for life. Forever grateful to have been recommended to World Wide Movers, Inc Alaska for having such great professionals in my team. Always ask for Dan & Fred!! Analia- 🙂
Had my stuff stored here for 6 years and had to pick up my stuff last minute. The staff was accommodating and was able to squeeze me in. I was extremely pleased with the customer service I received.

Norman, Ben, and Sione did an awesome job delivering and unpacking. Fast and professional, I would use these guys every time if I could.
Outstanding work! I used Continental Van to move my mother from Wasilla to Anchorage. Ken set me up in a timely manner, and was quick on the callbacks and followthrough. The 3 man moving crew were professional, respectful and diligent with the pack up, taking care with fragile items. They also made the delivery and unpack an easy and positive experience for my anxious 70+ mother. The borrow/return totes saved my family a lot of money, it shows Continental Van thinks of their customers first. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will definately use again!

How to Choose a Moving Company in South Lakes
Vetting movers in South Lakes matters because weather, ferries, and long distances can affect timelines and costs. Local and intrastate moves follow Alaska rules, while interstate moves require federal registration. Confirming credentials and scope upfront reduces surprises on moving day.
🛡️ Licensing and insurance
For interstate moves, verify USDOT and MC numbers. For local or intrastate, check Alaska registration and active cargo and liability coverage.
❄️ Experience with Alaska logistics
Weather, ferries, and remote access can shift schedules. Ask about similar routes, contingency plans, and winter operations.
💰 Transparent estimates
Request line-item quotes. Clarify stairs, long carries, shuttles, storage, and fuel surcharges, plus binding versus not-to-exceed terms.
⭐ Reviews and dispute handling
Scan recent feedback for patterns in care and communication. Ask how claims are filed, timelines, and who handles resolutions.
📦 Scope of services
Decide if you need packing, crating, storage, or specialty handling. Compare delivery windows, tracking, and valuation options.
📍 Availability and coverage
Confirm crew size for your date and whether the company serves both origin and destination without subcontracting.
Practical Moving Tips
Moving to South Lakes, AK means planning for lakefront roads, winter ice, and tight turnarounds in residential areas. Schedule with weather in mind, confirm that a full-size truck can reach the home, and prep anything that can’t handle deep cold or moisture.
- Time your dates and add slack. Ice, snow, and road work can shift pickup and delivery—build in buffer days.
- Confirm truck access. Check weight limits on local roads, narrow lanes, and cul-de-sacs; you may need a smaller shuttle truck for the last stretch.
- Prep the driveway and entry. Sand or plow as needed, trim low branches, mark tight turns, and measure doorways/stairs for oversized items.
- Get heat and utilities live first. Arrange fuel (oil/propane or wood/pellets), start electric service, confirm water/septic details, and schedule internet before move day.
- Winterize vehicles. Install a block heater, verify battery and coolant, mount true winter tires, and make sure there’s an outdoor plug where you park.
- Protect freeze-sensitive and moisture-sensitive items. Don’t ship liquids that can burst; use plastic totes and furniture covers; keep meds/electronics/documents with you.
- Stage parking and safety near water. Leave room for the truck to turn around, keep walkways dry, and store gear so it won’t blow toward the shoreline.
- First-week kit. Warm layers, boots, bedding, cookware, toiletries, headlamp, power bank, basic tools, and a small pantry supply—so you’re set if weather slows deliveries.
