High fives to Kone and Nio for being exceptional movers! They worked non-stop to pack up my house over 2 days. I had large items, fragile goods, plus a motorcycle that they packed with care for its long journey to the lower 48. These are some of the hardest-working guys I’ve seen, and definitely the best crew of movers I’ve ever worked with. They were friendly, professional, courteous, showed up on time, and stayed late to make sure everything got done; all while being short one crew member and traveling to a remote location. I couldn’t be happier with the work they did – thank you!!!
⭐THANK YOU Royal Alaskan Movers ⭐ for moving my family and saving my husband’s back! After a fast paced move, the majority of my belonging were stuck in storage. After a call to Royal, we were able to get everything moved in a few hours! The crew was prompt and extremely courteous and careful with all our belongings! Scheduling was fast as well. I called and they came out the next morning! We were moved in less than 4 hours! I would give 10 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

How to Choose an Anchorage Moving Company
Vetting Anchorage movers is crucial. Weather, ferries, and long routes can shift timelines and raise costs. Moves within Alaska follow state rules; interstate jobs require a federally registered carrier. Check licenses and confirm the exact scope of service before booking to avoid day-of surprises.
🛡️ Licensing and insurance
For interstate moves, verify USDOT and MC numbers. For local or intrastate, check Alaska registration and active cargo and liability coverage.
❄️ Experience with Alaska logistics
Weather, ferries, and remote access can shift schedules. Ask about similar routes, contingency plans, and winter operations.
💰 Transparent estimates
Request line-item quotes. Clarify stairs, long carries, shuttles, storage, and fuel surcharges, plus binding versus not-to-exceed terms.
⭐ Reviews and dispute handling
Scan recent feedback for patterns in care and communication. Ask how claims are filed, timelines, and who handles resolutions.
📦 Scope of services
Decide if you need packing, crating, storage, or specialty handling. Compare delivery windows, tracking, and valuation options.
📍 Availability and coverage
Confirm crew size for your date and whether the company serves both origin and destination without subcontracting.
Practical Moving Tips
Alaska’s seasons, distance, and logistics can add complexity, but a little planning goes a long way. Think in terms of timing (weather windows), gear (cold-weather basics), and paperwork (licenses, utilities, vehicle).
- Pick your season and build slack. Summer has easier roads and more daylight; winter moves are possible but slower. Add buffer days for storms, ferry changes, or highway closures.
- Choose a route and shipping plan. Compare the Alaska–Canada Highway drive with container/barge or truck-to-ferry options. If you drive, bring passports, insurance, and a detailed inventory for border crossings.
- Winterize early. Arrange block heaters, a battery in good condition, proper engine oil, and quality winter tires. Confirm local rules on studded tires and parking during snow bans.
- Prep a cold-weather move kit. Include traction aids, ice scraper, headlamp, gloves, extra layers, blankets, and a small emergency kit (water, snacks, first-aid, phone power bank).
- Right-size what you bring. Shipping bulky items is expensive. Sell duplicates, measure doorways/stairwells, and plan for tight access or shuttles at both ends.
- Coordinate deliveries and storage. Stagger big items (appliances, fuel tanks, pellets/wood) and consider short-term storage if housing dates don’t align.
- Handle local setup fast. Schedule gas/electric/internet turn-ons before arrival, update your address, and plan time to register your vehicle and driver’s license after you land.
- Think safety and resilience. Anchorage is in an earthquake-prone area—secure tall furniture, store a three-day supply of food and water, and keep important documents together.
