This moving company did a fantastic job!! My husband had nothing but positive things to say about the crew who packed up our household in Fairbanks; and I have nothing but positive things to say about the crew who delivered and unpacked our belongings in Anchorage. I am shocked at how they lifted and moved some extraordinarily heavy items so smoothly without damage or even a scrape on a wall. They were also very kind and patient with me as we navigated a LOT of stuff with some small spaces–which took some expertise and finesse on their part. They went above and beyond our expectations. I have never had such a stress-free move 😆❤️

Such a great crew! Packed my entire home FILLED with fragile items in 2 days AND I’ve been unpacking and haven’t found a single thing broken. 10/10 recommend to anyone who is nervous about packing or first time big movers.

High fives to Kone and Nio for being exceptional movers! They worked non-stop to pack up my house over 2 days. I had large items, fragile goods, plus a motorcycle that they packed with care for its long journey to the lower 48. These are some of the hardest-working guys I’ve seen, and definitely the best crew of movers I’ve ever worked with. They were friendly, professional, courteous, showed up on time, and stayed late to make sure everything got done; all while being short one crew member and traveling to a remote location. I couldn’t be happier with the work they did – thank you!!!

⭐THANK YOU Royal Alaskan Movers ⭐ for moving my family and saving my husband’s back! After a fast paced move, the majority of my belonging were stuck in storage. After a call to Royal, we were able to get everything moved in a few hours! The crew was prompt and extremely courteous and careful with all our belongings! Scheduling was fast as well. I called and they came out the next morning! We were moved in less than 4 hours! I would give 10 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Norman, Ben, and Sione did an awesome job delivering and unpacking. Fast and professional, I would use these guys every time if I could.

Outstanding work! I used Continental Van to move my mother from Wasilla to Anchorage. Ken set me up in a timely manner, and was quick on the callbacks and followthrough. The 3 man moving crew were professional, respectful and diligent with the pack up, taking care with fragile items. They also made the delivery and unpack an easy and positive experience for my anxious 70+ mother. The borrow/return totes saved my family a lot of money, it shows Continental Van thinks of their customers first. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will definately use again!

How Much Does a Kodiak, AK Move Cost?

Moving from Kodiak, AK is an island move first and a road move second. Tide windows, AMHS/barge schedules, and limited laydown space can shape load plans and delivery timing. Below are ballpark on-site labor estimates for a typical 2-bedroom apartment (origin load + destination unload). Actual time changes with stairs, elevator access, parking, and add-ons. Linehaul, fuel, marine freight, and crating are extra.

How to Choose a Moving Company in Kodiak

    🛡️ Licensing and status

Look for the USDOT numbers on their websites as evidence of their legal status; it shows they’ve met DOT requirements to transport household goods across the country.

    📄 Insurance and valuation

Ask about proper moving insurance; adequate insurance will bring down your stress level if something happens to valuable items.

    💰 Accurate estimates

Request on-site moving price estimates and know there are two types of moving estimates – binding and non-binding. After the home survey, movers must list transportation costs and any extra services.

    ⭐ Reviews and shortlisting

Use moving reviews and ratings to verify recommendations and narrow to a handful of good professional movers before you contact them.

    📦 Scope and access issues

During the home survey, point out obstacles: tight corners, steep stairs, elevators, narrow hallways, and confirm needed services (packing, crating, storage) and delivery windows, tracking.

    📌 Disputes and red flags

Request the mover’s dispute settlement policy so you know your post-move options. Also learn the red flags of moving fraud and say NO! to moving fraud.

    Practical Moving Tips

Moving to Kodiak, AK is an island move first. Ferries, barges, and weather windows shape timing; salt, wind, and rain shape packing. Plan around marine schedules, protect gear from moisture and corrosion, and make sure heat and utilities are ready the day you get keys.

    • Book AMHS/barge early. Get cutoff dates, likely sailings, and a backup sailing. Build buffer days for weather holds and port congestion.
    • Pack for wet, salty conditions. Favor plastic totes, shrink-wrap, and furniture covers; add desiccant packs. Seal boxes tight and double-box electronics.
    • Stage for tight access. Kodiak driveways and docks can be tight or uneven. Measure doors and stairs; consider a smaller shuttle truck for the last stretch.
    • Moisture and rust control. Wipe down metal tools and hardware after transit; use boot trays, towels, a box fan, and—if needed—a dehumidifier.
    • Line up heat and services. Arrange heating oil/propane, confirm tank levels, start electric and internet before arrival, and test heat/hot water on key day.
    • Vehicle shipping choices. Compare AMHS roll-on vs. barge; secure a spare key, note vehicle condition, and remove loose accessories that catch wind/salt.
    • First-week kit. Rain gear, warm layers, bedding, cookware, toiletries, headlamp, power bank, basic tools, and a few days of food and water.
    • Safety and local habits. Know tsunami/earthquake routes, keep an outage kit with a CO detector and batteries, and use wildlife-safe trash practices.

    Our Methodology

We adapted a rigorous rubric to Alaska’s realities: weather, ferries, remote access, while keeping consumer priorities front and center.

    • Customer satisfaction: Recent reviews and complaint ratios show if they show up on time with good communication and within quoted price. We also look for clear dispute process and moving insurance with usable valuation options.
    • Standard services: Full service for packing/unpacking, loading/unloading, transport and storage. We prefer highly trained and experienced crews using industry approved boxes, pads and bubble wrap for fragile items, and climate controlled storage when needed.
    • Reputation and compliance: Active USDOT numbers on their website as proof of their legitimacy, FMCSA/Alaska registration, insurance and trust signals like ProMover Certified or FIDI Network membership. We say NO! to moving fraud by looking for common red flags.
    • Add-on services: Extras that matter in Alaska: custom crating, vehicle/oversize handling, debris removal, and direct-van or minimal-handoff options that move lives, not just possessions.
    • Availability and Alaska readiness: Capacity in peak season, after-hours or weekend availability, and proof of ferry/remote/winter operations that keep routes on schedule.
    • Type of mover: Clear disclosure of carrier vs. broker and the share of work done with an in-house fleet vs. subcontractors.
    • Pricing transparency: Written, line-item estimates with accessorials (stairs, long carries, shuttles, fuel) and clear binding vs. not-to-exceed terms.
    • Scheduling and process: Easy booking and coordination, including a free consultation and no-obligation moving estimate, digital inventories/tracking where offered, and guaranteed delivery windows when feasible.
