Norman, Ben, and Sione did an awesome job delivering and unpacking. Fast and professional, I would use these guys every time if I could.
Outstanding work! I used Continental Van to move my mother from Wasilla to Anchorage. Ken set me up in a timely manner, and was quick on the callbacks and followthrough. The 3 man moving crew were professional, respectful and diligent with the pack up, taking care with fragile items. They also made the delivery and unpack an easy and positive experience for my anxious 70+ mother. The borrow/return totes saved my family a lot of money, it shows Continental Van thinks of their customers first. 10 out of 10 would recommend and will definately use again!

High fives to Kone and Nio for being exceptional movers! They worked non-stop to pack up my house over 2 days. I had large items, fragile goods, plus a motorcycle that they packed with care for its long journey to the lower 48. These are some of the hardest-working guys I’ve seen, and definitely the best crew of movers I’ve ever worked with. They were friendly, professional, courteous, showed up on time, and stayed late to make sure everything got done; all while being short one crew member and traveling to a remote location. I couldn’t be happier with the work they did – thank you!!!
⭐THANK YOU Royal Alaskan Movers ⭐ for moving my family and saving my husband’s back! After a fast paced move, the majority of my belonging were stuck in storage. After a call to Royal, we were able to get everything moved in a few hours! The crew was prompt and extremely courteous and careful with all our belongings! Scheduling was fast as well. I called and they came out the next morning! We were moved in less than 4 hours! I would give 10 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Average Long-distance Moving Costs From Alaska
Alaska long-distance moves are all about routing and timing. Ferries, winter windows, and long line-haul legs can add cost fast, so these ballpark figures assume a standard two-bedroom load with curb-to-curb service and basic protection. They don’t include crating for specialty items, long carries, storage, or remote access surcharges some destinations require.
| Destination | Typical Crew | Approximate Number of Hours | Average Cost of Work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seattle, WA | 3 movers | 8–10 hrs | $7,400 |
| Portland, OR | 3 movers | 8–10 hrs | $7,800 |
| Spokane, WA | 3 movers | 8–10 hrs | $8,000 |
| Boise, ID | 3 movers | 8–10 hrs | $8,400 |
| Salt Lake City, UT | 3–4 movers | 9–11 hrs | $8,900 |
| Denver, CO | 3–4 movers | 9–11 hrs | $9,200 |
| San Francisco, CA | 3–4 movers | 9–11 hrs | $9,600 |
| Los Angeles, CA | 3–4 movers | 9–11 hrs | $9,900 |
| Phoenix, AZ | 3–4 movers | 9–11 hrs | $10,200 |
| Minneapolis, MN | 3–4 movers | 9–12 hrs | $10,800 |
How to Cut Long-distance Moving Costs
Long-distance moves from Alaska get expensive because of weight, routing, ferries, and winter timing. You’ll save the most by cutting pounds, improving access, picking the right service level, and avoiding extra “touches” like storage-in/storage-out.
- Purge heavy, low-value items. Sell or donate bookcases, old sofas, gym gear, and bulk pantry goods before the survey; weight drives long-haul and barge costs.
 - Time the pickup wisely. Aim for late spring or early fall and mid-week dates; fewer weather delays and better carrier availability usually mean better pricing.
 - Right-size the container. Compare liftvans, shared/containerized options, and dedicated units; don’t pay to ship air in a half-empty 40-footer.
 - Fix access at both ends. Reserve parking, arrange elevator pads/keys, clear snow and ice, and measure tight turns to avoid shuttles, long carries, and wait charges.

- Self-pack the simple stuff. Box linens, clothes, and nonbreakables yourself with sturdy used boxes; leave glass, artwork, and odd shapes to pros.
 - Skip unnecessary storage. Align pickup and delivery to avoid warehouse handling; each storage-in/storage-out adds fees and risk of delays.
 - Get the right estimate type. Ask for binding or not-to-exceed with a detailed inventory and all accessorials (stairs, ferry, crating, fuel) spelled out in writing.
 - Consolidate services. If you’re shipping a vehicle, compare bundling it with your household goods vs. separate auto transport; one vendor and schedule can cut duplicate minimums.

How to Choose a Long-distance Movers in Alaska
Alaska’s ferries, remote highways, and winter weather can shift timelines and budgets, so the mover you pick really matters. A solid screening upfront keeps your plan realistic from pickup to final drop-off.
🛡️ Compliance and Insurance
Confirm a valid USDOT (and MC if required). Ask for certificates of insurance (cargo and liability), coverage limits, named exclusions, and whether you can be listed as certificate
❄️ Alaska Know-How
Look for winterized equipment, tire chains, and experience with Alaska Marine Highway ferry bookings, rural access, and long gaps between service hubs.
💰 Estimating and Pricing
Insist on a written estimate that states binding/non-binding/not-to-exceed terms. Make sure accessorials are itemized, and clarify valuation, deposits, and cancellation policies.
⭐ Reputation and Claims
Read recent reviews for patterns in care and communication. Ask for their claims rate, typical response time, and a named escalation contact.
📦 Services and Capacity
Define what’s included: packing, custom crating, storage-in-transit, assembly, specialty items, and tracking. Note minimum hours, blackout dates, and seasonal limits.
📍 Scheduling
Verify pickup and delivery windows, service areas at both ends, and whether crews are in-house or handled by agents/subcontractors on certain segments.
Our Methodology
We adapted a rigorous rubric to Alaska’s realities: weather, ferries, remote access, while keeping consumer priorities front and center.
- Customer satisfaction: Recent reviews and complaint ratios show if they show up on time with good communication and within quoted price. We also look for clear dispute process and moving insurance with usable valuation options.
 - Standard services: Full service for packing/unpacking, loading/unloading, transport and storage. We prefer highly trained and experienced crews using industry approved boxes, pads and bubble wrap for fragile items, and climate controlled storage when needed.
 - Reputation and compliance: Active USDOT numbers on their website as proof of their legitimacy, FMCSA/Alaska registration, insurance and trust signals like ProMover Certified or FIDI Network membership. We say NO! to moving fraud by looking for common red flags.
 - Add-on services: Extras that matter in Alaska: custom crating, vehicle/oversize handling, debris removal, and direct-van or minimal-handoff options that move lives, not just possessions.

- Availability and Alaska readiness: Capacity in peak season, after-hours or weekend availability, and proof of ferry/remote/winter operations that keep routes on schedule.
 - Type of mover: Clear disclosure of carrier vs. broker and the share of work done with an in-house fleet vs. subcontractors.
 - Pricing transparency: Written, line-item estimates with accessorials (stairs, long carries, shuttles, fuel) and clear binding vs. not-to-exceed terms.
 - Scheduling and process: Easy booking and coordination, including a free consultation and no-obligation moving estimate, digital inventories/tracking where offered, and guaranteed delivery windows when feasible.

Frequently Asked Questions?
How does Simplified Moving Solutions help me choose an easier Long-distance move company in Alaska?
Tell us your route, timing, and inventory. We filter options, disclose actual prices and recent reviews, and present side-by-side comparisons so you can select with certainty.
When should I book?
Summer is high season—book 6–10 weeks prior. If your move involves ferries or remote destinations, book earlier.
Are movers licensed and insured?
Interstate movers must have an active USDOT and, if so, an MC number. Get certificates reflecting cargo and liability coverage and check the limits.
What can I expect for delivery time?
Movers quote a pickup period and a delivery window. Weather, distance, and ferry schedules can cause dates to be pushed around, but quality crews give updates en route.
Do movers pack and store?
Many do. You can request full or partial packing, specialty crating of delicate items, short- or extended-term storage—make sure your estimate details just what’s included.
